What a dry time it is here in Uganda. The rains came for a short time and just as
quickly as they came, they left. This
has been quite a problem for us here.
The water is becoming more scarce, the power is being cut more and more,
wild fires are burning out of control and cost of living is going up by
40-50%.
We mentioned just a few weeks ago that we were able to go up
to Lacum Lodge and BEAUTIFUL area just near our house. We were able to go up there again a week ago
with a dear friend, Ani Bilazarian; however, when we arrived we were greeted by
ash in place of what was one of the most beautiful lodges in Uganda. Lacum burned in a wild fire that got out of
control. It was devastating to us
because we loved that place, but it was far more devastating to those who
worked and ran the lodge.
We then ventured down the mountain and just 3 days later
were informed that our outdoor market burned as well! This broke our heart, again, not for us, but
for those who had so many goods within the market. What made it even a bit worse was we had an equally
as large fire just 6 months ago burning the outdoor market… These people had
tried to put life back together by taking out loans and buying more goods… only
to be taken from them again in six short months… devastating.
And then we had our own small small fire in our back yard
because we burned trash too close to our hedge… thankfully we were able to put
it out with little damage and thankfully a few laughs.

Wow, such trials that they make my trials seem puny. May the Lord decide to bless the land with water, precious water. Love you both and loved skyping with you the other day!
