This makes no tortilla chips worth it....

In previous posts, we have talked about a school that one of our staff runs for children with Spina Bifida.  The school was set up after watching our children that have been treated at CURE get turned away from going to school because of mobility issues or incontinence.  As many of you know, cognitively these children are highly functional; therefore, it was this staff members vision to give them a chance. Each week these children come to CURE for Physio ( a highlight of the week for us).  Yesterday while they were here sang a few songs for the other mama's at the hospital and for a group of donors who were here.

We often forget the impact these children have on the other moms.  They all come out and watch amazed that these a few years ago these children were JUST like the ones they are holding in their arms.  Many moms say "did any of these children have hydrocephalus..." So we take time to discuss each of the children's dx and where they are now in school.  This gives the mamas hope.

Many people ask if we are homesick living in Uganda and what we miss... I always respond that I miss tortilla chips more than any other food... Today we were reminded that being here is worth giving up tortilla chips...
